Golden Boy wrapped principal photography on March 30th, 2025 and is now in post-production. The filming process was the culmination of 6 years of planning.
There were four days of rehearsals for Golden Boy, which began on March 3, 2025.
Rehearsals included a scene-by-scene consultation with Makeup and Hair Designer Alicia Bailey, a choreography session with Intimacy Coordinator Marci Liroff, and a shopping day to source and catalogue the remaining wardrobe items.
Filming began on March 12th, wrapped on March 30th, and was followed by one day of voiceover recording on April 1st.

Podium Entertainment LLC secured one FilmLA permit and three Burbank filming permits for production. There was no guerrilla filmmaking on Golden Boy at all.
Podium Entertainment LLC also successfully became a SAG-AFTRA signatory for Golden Boy.
Each filming location had a designated Lighting Day when lights were set, camera equipment was loaded inside, and set decorations/props were arranged.

No filming took place on Lighting Days; Lighting Days wrapped once the location was entirely ready for filming the next day.

Director Josh Wallace, Director of Photography Morvarid Reyes Talebzadeh, and Assistant Director ÇiÄŸdem Bryant discuss the upcoming shots.
Producer Josh Wallace organizes the documents for the FilmLA and Film Burbank neighborhood surveys, working at his desk of choice: the floor.

To direct, produce, and act in Golden Boy, Josh finalized the call sheets and the minute-by-minute filming schedules weeks before filming began. These schedules were refined for years as the production’s parameters came into focus.

Equipment was sourced with weeks of advance of notice, and locations were booked with months advance of notice. Even the payroll company was sent their first deposit months ahead of anyone’s first day of work.
In fact, the FilmLA permit was filed so early that the FilmLA representative audibly giggled when Josh followed through on the status of his application before being told his application wouldn’t even be looked at for months.
Lead actress Ellie Rose Boswell’s character Amy Campbell speaks 58% of the dialogue in the 89-page script, which includes several monologues.
And Ellie showed up to the first day of rehearsals entirely off-book.
To all filmmakers reading this: cast her. You will not find a more dedicated actress.
